The Reno Composite Squadron Picnic and unofficial CAP World Series of Volleyball is happening on Saturday, August 24 and Lazy 5 Regional park in Sparks, NV.
We hope to see everyone there for an afternoon of camaraderie, fine dining and world-class volleyball competition!

Once again RCS Cadets and Senior members are invited to attend the Hook Symposium at The Nugget in Sparks, NV on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 0830 to 1500 hrs. The exhibition will be held at the Nugget in the foyer and Sierra Room 1 - 5
Be sure to sign up before September 1 for pre-clearance requirements. This was an very interesting event last year and we hope to have many cadets in attendance this year.
Simulators, interactive displays and aviation related technology abound. Hope to see everyone there.

It's that time again! This is the day that we set up for the Reno Air Races. If you can help please be at Wing HQ at 0900. If you'd like to meet us at Stead Airport you can meet at about 0930. Our booth is to the west of the grand stands under the media tower. You should be able to drive right there on Sunday.
Bring gloves if you have them!

This is the big event! Sign up for the Reno Air Races here. If you're new to the event, there are five days and two shifts available. If you work one shift you can walk around and enjoy the air races for the other half of the day. We need the most help from Friday to Sunday. On Sunday we'll be packing up after the event.
You have the option of riding from Wing HQ at 5:30am every day and returning to HQ at approximately 5pm every day (earlier on the first few days). If you are doing a partial day then you'll have to drive yourself and show up at "Gate 3" with your CAP T-shirt on. If they don't let you in, text or call Chris Webster at 425.293.3925.

Operation Santa Claus at Atlantic Aviation (RNO)
We are planning for a joint SAREX with Minden on August 17. Specific tasking is not yet known, but please sign up if you are able to participate. Location still TBD. Possibly will be held in Minden. If the SAREX is in Minden, participants for the day should show up to Wing HQ for an 0630 departure to Minden. Bring your current 101 Card and an SQTR for the specialty you're hoping to train in. Also bring appropriate uniforms for the tasks you may be asked to perform.

July 20, 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission which successfully put the first humans on the moon. Several events are scheduled for this historic day that should be informative and fun.

0800 – 1000 : LAANC training @ Squadron
1000-1030 : Reposition to Drone training site in POVs
1030-1200 : Drone SARex

Participants for the day should show up to Wing HQ on July 13 for an 0800 briefing. Bring your current 101 Card and an SQTR for the specialty you're hoping to train in. Also bring appropriate uniforms for the tasks you may be asked to perform.
At the end of the SAREX the cadets and several senior members will go out and wipe down the aircraft(s). The remaining senior members (branch directors and section chiefs) will write the After Action Report.

Here comes another Honor Flight! Come support our squadron, the airport, and more importantly our veterans as they return from a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington DC. You'll go behind security and help bring veterans and their luggage downstairs and then join in the festivities to follow.
Park on the top floor of the parking garage and don't forget to get a card for validation at the event. Meet at at 1:45 at the skier statue. End time is approximate and will vary based on actual flight arrival time and Honor Flight duties.

Join the Reno Composite Squadron members for an evening of baseball and fireworks. Our cadets will have color guard duty for the pre-game ceremony so come early. If you need tickets sign up using the form below or contact Mark Silver. Tickets are first come, first served.
Sign up for this infrequent opportunity to achieve one of the main requirements for Level II. Squadron Leadership School (or SLS) will be held at NV Wing HQ on June 1-2. Check in at 0730. Class starts at 0800 both days.
To be eligible to attend you must have Level I completed and you must be assigned to a specialty track.

UAS (drone) Form 5 training and testing will take place on Saturday, 25 May, 2019. Here are the details:
Requirements:
FAA Part 107 certified
IS-3 complete https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-3
IS-5a complete https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-5.a
CAPF 70-1 exam completed after 26 Mar, 2019 (60 days prior to the Form 5) https://www.capnhq.gov/CAP.LMS.Web/Course/course_lessons.aspx?c=120
You will be tested using the CAPF 5U. You should have a working knowledge of the CAPF 109U, CAPF 91U, and the CAPR 70-1U (DRAFT INSTRUCTION). These forms were distributed via email.
Meet at the Wing parking lot at 0800. We will conduct the oral portion of the form 5 at the wing, as it will be video taped. Afterwards, we will proceed by vehicle to the mission location (N39°35'5.64" , W119°41'18.12") for the remainder of the Form 5 testing and video recording.
