RCS Pilot Scholarship Program - 2019

aircraft_management_image_327E0D911A9DA.jpg

Reno Composite Squadron is in desperate need of qualified pilots! Are you a pilot but aren’t current? Do you have close to 100 hours PIC time? Are you fully current but just need to fly CAP aircraft to get up to speed? Then apply for the program!

We’re not going to teach you how to fly. We don’t have the money for that yet. However, we can cover your costs to get up to speed if our committee of qualified CAP pilots determine that you’re close to CAP qualification and that you’re a participating member of the squadron.

Fill out the form and they will review it and get back to you! If you have questions feel free to talk to Sandy Munns, Jon Plamondon, or CB Wilson at a meeting.

Airborne Photographer class

Airborne Photographers (AP) are senior members that are currently qualified as Mission Scanners (MS). APs take photos or videos based on customer requirements and upload/transfer that digital media to the customer. APs will become familiar with digital photography using a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera (Nikon D7100) and it GPS attachment. APs will also learn how to plan missions, analyze photos, and how to transfer digital media. Ground team members and non-MS personnel may also attend the class, but will not receive credit toward an AP qualification.

If you are doing a partial day then you'll have to drive yourself and show up at "Gate 3" with your CAP T-shirt on. If they don't let you in, text or call Chris Webster at 425.293.3925.

Tailhook - Aerospace Education Opportunity

images.png

The purpose of the Tailhook Association is to foster, encourage, develop, study, and support the aircraft carrier, sea-based aircraft, both fixed and rotary wing, and aircrews of the United States of America; and to educate and inform the public in the appropriate role of the aircraft carrier and carrier aviation in the nation's defense system.

Members of the Civil Air Patrol are invited to view exhibits by aerospace companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and aircraft engine manufacturers Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, and General Electric. FA-18 and F-35 simulators, aircraft model displays, and engine cutaways are typically on display, along with aviators and engineers that help to develop these products.

Due to long wait times associated with the simulators, I typically need 1 senior member for every 3-4 cadets. Parents of multi-sibling groups will also work. We'll meet at 9:00am on the second floor of the Nugget, at the aircraft carrier model in front of the Tailhook Registration booth.

Visit the website here.
